An interior renovation project for a retired Naval Officer and his wife in a government-built housing complex for defence personnel. The family- originally from Kerala, had collected a lot of folk-art from across the world, this was never displayed properly as they kept moving home. The home was designed to be a permanent space for them, as well as their collection, it was to be a space they can call home, relating it to childhood memories of lush green, old timber balconies, deep shaded spaces, and exquisite woodwork. Such memories are rarely invoked by a mere visual aesthetic, the aroma and resonance of teak, the gentle heat absorption of stone floor and counters, and the comfort of solid custom-designed brass hardware make the space.
